Hi there, Chaos Group ages ago added support to freeze transforms on a proxy object in Maya. Thanks, I tried 2.3 option last night. But there's a fatal error when translating scene even with iCube's example scenes.

Thanks for checking bdancer - your render is exactly what I was after. I just redownloaded and reinstalled VrayPattern for Maya 1.1.0 then, same render result unfortunately. Ah yes, that makes sense. My intention was to hide them in first place for quick preview renders (I'm using display layers though to hide foliage).
But I'll also hide the VRayScatter nodes too for when doing test renders, thanks for the help

Hello, I found a fatal error and how to reproduce the issue. Scatter a cube or something via VRayScatter. Hide the cube (Display > Hide Selection) V-Ray should refuse to render with a fatal error. Hi bdancer, if you make an instance of "lomandraLongifolia:grassClump1Main_proxy" does it still render ok for you? That is when the crash happens for me.
The scene will render ok as long as there is no instance present.

Hello again :) I have found a fatal error when rendering VRayScatter and 3.1.0. Maya 2013x64 and V-Ray nightly. Please see attached scene.
