unfortunately this is not possible with the current engine materials are assigned to MultiScatter during rendering (as actual objects being created during rendering) but include/exclude table is operating with the objects which exist in the scene this has got rare usage but we will think about imple...

according to change log above it does support 2.4 but only for Maya 2013 and 2014

thanks for feedback, we will take it to consideration fro future development
regarding xref

you can either use "from file" feature
or create xref not just for one object but for the whole system, surface, object and pattern itself, it should work this way

not completely understand the problem, perhaps the following helps
you need to create 2 diffent MultiScatters, one scattered on the texture, and another one on the same texture but inverted

if this doesn't help, please send us the file
