Using mental Ray - I've got a scene setup with 2 million teapots being scattered on a 400'x400' plane and it seems to only be using one processor during the calculation before rendering. My CPU usage is at 13% and not budging and the memory usage just climbs and climbs.
Any ideas? Do you have to turn on multithreading somewhere in the multiscatter interface?
Cheers
Jason

Re: Mutithreading not working - With Mental Ray
Just setup a scene in Vray with the same objects, same lighting, and same scatter scenario and the multi threading appears to be working just fine, in fact I am very impressed. This seems to only be when using MR. Any ideas?
Re: Mutithreading not working - With Mental Ray
Are you sure it happens before render? Generation algorithm doesn't depend on render. But MR has problem with multithreading in case of huge amount of objects while rendering.
Re: Mutithreading not working - With Mental Ray
Yea, I am watching it while it's calculating the scatter geometry, not while it's rendering.

No one can duplicate this? It's really becoming a mystery to me right now....I can't get it working with any file that is Mental Ray.
