Vray proxies

Post by dubscope »

Hello, we observed that the RAM consumption during rendering with proxies (trees) is higher than with the original poly geometry? how can that be? I thought it should be the opposite? or is there not benefit form using proxies with vray scatter?

thx

how can that be?
This may come from the amount of voxels in the vrmesh file.

For native Maya geometry VRayScatter generates a single voxel; vrmesh file may contain multiple voxels.

VRayScatter tries to optimize this and merges voxels into a single one. However it is not always possible to generate a single voxel out of the vrmesh file and this may lead to higher mem. usage when V-Ray will build an acceleration tree.
